Product Story
Storage is always a problem. We never have enough of it. Stuff piles up. The car fights for space in the garage. Things we need end up in cabinets and drawers meant for other things. Enter the Cognita storage bench. It stores all kinds of things efficiently—so you can actually find them when you need them—while looking great and providing both a soft place to sit and a hard top that can hold drinks and snacks or small office equipment.
Multipurpose Versatility
The perfect storage solution for the home - whether as part of a home office or as a super-functional piece of furniture in a living room, bedroom, or family room.
Work or Play?
The two top surfaces open for access to versatile storage compartments. The upholstered section lifts to reveal a roomy place for high-density storage of hanging files or for storing linens, pillows, toys, you-name-it. The hard-surfaced side of the bench houses two drawers and a removable organizer tray - perfect for remote controls, hand-held electronic games, MP3 players, pencils and pens, or chargers.
Two drawers accommodate larger office supplies, clothing, DVDs, and much more.
Finish Choices
This is a striking piece of furniture at home in most rooms. With a walnut case and very modern brushed steel legs, the bench blends nicely with classic mid-century furniture or contemporary pieces. The cushion is upholstered in a tough wool/polyester blend available in chocolate, chili, or celery. The hard surface top and drawer fronts are white.
BluDot, the Minneapolis-based furniture design firm, says its goal is to bring good design to as many people as possible--which means creating products that are useful, affordable, and desirable. BluDot's design of the Cognita storage bench fits those criteria by taking a balanced approach, mixing beauty and practicality.
While the bench was designed to be a residential piece for use anywhere in the home, it's highly functional for the home office. It contains plenty of file storage without looking like it. At the same time, the bench handles residential needs, including linen storage and hospitality. Its design is modern, yet the bench complements classic pieces by the Eameses, Nelson, and many others. And though the look is elegant, BluDot designed Cognita to be a subtle presence that doesn't draw too much attention to itself.
